There has been a lot of coverage recently about Bullying.
Everybody has the right to go about their daily lives without the fear of being threatened, assaulted or harassed.
No one should underestimate the impact that bullying can have on a person’s life.
Anyone who is being bullied should speak to someone.
What is Bullying?
Bullying is an imbalance of power to repeatedly and intentionally cause emotional or physical harm to another person or group of people.
Bullying generally takes one of four forms:
1) Indirect e.g. spreading rumours.
2) Physical e.g. kicking, punching or any form of violence
3) Verbal e.g. tormenting, name-calling, teasing, threats or sarcasm.
4) Cyber e.g. Internet misuse, nasty or threatening emails, misuse of blogs, chat rooms, texts & calls.
Why Do people get Bullied?
Colour of hair, Weight, Race, Height, Appearance, Circumstances
Effects of Bullying?
Sadness, Low Self Esteem, Loss of Confidence, Breakdown, Reduced Friendships.
What are the solutions
-Ability to be assertive
-Ability to defend yourselves should the need arise – Self Defence
Bullying can deeply affect everybody.
No one deserves to be bullied.
Everybody has the right to be treated with respect.
